In what is sure to mean more bad news for California, the Panama Canal's modernization project should be operating within the next year. Their new locks will recycle the water from Gatun Lake, instead of dumping the water into the ocean, thereby increasing the number of ships that can use the canal. Even better, the new locks will be able to run bigger ships through the Canal, including some of the giant container ships.

What this means is that California will see reduced shipments to their harbors. That means reduced work. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Mark Steyn has an excellent article on the travels of United Kingdom's Royals compared to the travels of our President.  Just guess who costs less to transport?

Congressman Trey Gowdy has been appointed to the chairmanship of the House Committee that will be investigating the actions of our government in the Benghazi attacks. This appointment made by Speaker John Boehner is a big change in the traditional character of the chairman.  The Powerlineblog has an excellent article on this energetic appointment.

I have two links that will interest California Voters.  The first is the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association ratings of Legislators and Senators in California.  Those of you who own property know the importance of this organization.

The Second is the California Chamber of Commerce voting report on important bills.

Find your California legislators and see how the business community rates them.

I also found out that Toyota's move to Texas was the result of an independent study by their company.  Despite the news of Governor Rick Perry's courting Toyota, they did their own study and the figures led to the hard fact that an expensive move to Texas, including relocating almost 4,000 people, was in their best interests.

Some day, the California Democrats may understand that their vote-buying programs are costing the people of this state a lot of jobs and money.

Time to Change

IT IS TIME TO CHANGE TO REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP IN CALIFORNIA

Some people cannot see past their party membership.  We trust our leaders and have made a commitment to them—after all, we are only human.  But we were warned of this “party spirit” by President George Washington in his Farewell Address of 1796. He noted that such spirit would lead us to embrace our political party, especially the leaders we liked, instead of embracing logic and sensible government.   Here I ask you to sever your party ties for a minute and contemplate the current course of California politics and finances.

Among other things, President Washington sternly warned us about debt, saying that it should be avoided unless war made it unavoidable.  It is this knowledge that led me to shake my head in sadness when I read that one politician was helping young adults with educational loans. Schooling has gotten very expensive, so many people see this “help” as a good thing.   But, it’s not.

First, we should question the rise in education costs and its symbiotic relationship between the education establishment and banking.  Are these loans a good thing or are they encouraging the rising costs of education?  And now, as if our national debt and state debt wasn't enough, some politicians are encouraging the students to submerge themselves in personal debt before they hit the job market.  And the politicians know that the job market is getting worse.

California is rated as the worst, or close to the worst, state to do business in the United States.  We are losing important businesses each week.  Just yesterday Toyota announced it will be moving operations to Texas. The aerospace industry, once the pride of California, has more operations moving out of the state.  XCORE Aerospace, a successful private company that will take paying passengers into space, is moving their entire operation from Mojave, California to Midland, Texas.

In other words, the real “Tomorrowland” is leaving California and moving to Texas.  .  (Good Video HERE)

Just as every one of us would be willing to move to a better job with better benefits, the big money is leaving California for better treatment by their host: Texas. Heavy taxes and regulation have consequences.

There’s more:  Next year we will see the completion of the Panama Canal’s new lock system, which will facilitate more Asian shipping to the ports in Texas.  This will reduce the workload in our California harbors; jobs will be lost and those people will not be supporting their local economies.  Once money and jobs are taken out of California, they are gone for good.

The politicians knew this day was coming, but did nothing to stop it.

Consider the fact that the California government wins a part of every Lottery prize, it collects a sales tax in addition to an income tax, and it has property taxes, business taxes, water taxes, gas taxes and many, many other taxes.  Yet, with all these sources of income the state still goes in heavy debt. It is over $400 billion in debt with its spending and unfunded liabilities.

If anyone ran a business the way that our government is run, the managers would go to jail.

By the way, the politicians have been proud that last year they had a budget surplus.  But that surplus may never find its way to paying down the debt.  They keep finding more things to fund, such as high speed trains or some other project to entice votes from the public.  But, if every penny of that surplus were paid to the debt, the balance would not be paid off for over one hundred years.  Thank the politicians for this debt and the voters for keeping them in office.

At some point, your children will ask why you allowed this debt to grow.  I hope you have a good answer.

In closing, we are seeing what happens when a business is mismanaged.  In big business, the managers, the CEO’s and officers on the board of directors get rich while the workers get very little.  But in big politics, the politicians get rich, their close friends get rich, and then the office-holders are re-elected by the unthinking voters.  What’s worse is that the politicians are leaving a tremendous debt for your children to pay;  but the corrupt businessmen have not.

This is why I am asking all my neighbors to recognize what is in front of you.    Stop putting these abusive people in power.  This is a year for change.  The Democrats knew what they were doing and continue to drive this State into debt and worse.  It’s time to make California business friendly.  Vote them out.

Lying About the Filibuster and Minorities

For years I have been communicating that the Democrat Party is NOT a friend of the minorities and the poor.  Obviously, the Democrats are good at handing things out, but they are terrible at giving people the opportunities that are necessary for them to advance their lives.

The current conditions are the result of the Democrat's positions on justice and business.

Business:  As they increase the regulatory burdens on businesses, the managers and owners seek better environments for manufacturing and supply.  Businesses move out of this nation; automation and part-time employment increase.  These actions are a natural, intelligent reaction to business challenges.  The Democrat leaders knew this would happen.

Justice:   The story of Miguel Estrada provides a good example of how a dedicated, hard working Hispanic will be stopped by the Democrats if that person is not a liberal.  If you are a minority, understand this about the Democrat party:  You have to know your place on their plantation or they will punish you.

Do you think I'm kidding?  Here I can recommend a book that his well-researched and very well documented.  Mugged.     It exposes the lies that have been sold to many people.

I know many people who would not read "Mugged" because of its author.  Well, in my book I made the point that some people would rather hear lies from their favored politicians than the truth told by their opponents.  Intelligence means nothing if it is not bound to objectivity; it becomes stupidity.

The Democrats are selling out the poor and the minorities.  Do you care enough to back the party that is helping these groups?
